The unique Holocaust Communication and Tolerance program of Touro College Berlin allows students with an interest in the Holocaust and Jewish Studies to combine academic research and practical utilization in cultural projects and education.



  • During the Holocaust Communication and Tolerance program of Touro College Berlin students will have the opportunity to study Jewish Studies with our cooperation partner at the Free University Berlin. 
  • The program also includes visits to key Holocaust Memorials in and around Berlin, to the Berlin based archives with Holocaust-related holdings and the realization of own projects like exhibitions or blogs.
  • It is the only Master’s program of its kind in Germany and EU.
  • The Master-Degree allows students to start PhD-graduation at all Universities.

Programme Structure

Courses include:

  • Holocaust Studies (basic, advanced and intensified modules)
  • Holocaust Communication (basic, advanced and intensified modules)
  • Project (two modules leading to an exhibition or online presentation)
  • Jewish History (two modules on Jewish history as an overview and as Berlin focused)
  • Tolerance (one module)

General requirements

  • Minimum BA degree (or equivalent) in related fields such as history, philosophy, German / Eastern European Studies, sociology, Judaic studies, political science, social psychology, gender studies, theology, journalism, or theater/arts. We also encourage professionals who would like to take up Holocaust Studies on a part-time basis. 
  • Non-native speakers must prove that they can master the German language level at German Universities. We accept the following qualifications and tests: DSH 2, TDN 3-5, DSD II, Certificate C 2, Tel C 1.
