Overview
Students gain security knowledge, hands-on R&D skills and learn how to build next-generation cloud and mobile computing services and applications. Graduates receive degrees from two European universities and choose between positions in industrial R&D, security engineering and consulting, or PhD studies.
Cloud computing means in a broad sense highly distributed and scalable computation and data storage in data centers as well as physically accessible devices. Information security means protection of computation, communication and data from unauthorized access.
Career
Graduates from the Security and Cloud Computing (SECCLO) programme from KTH Royal Institute of Technology are well trained for international industrial R&D jobs, security engineering and consulting, various expert roles, and doctoral studies at the partner universities and internationally.
Information security is an essential qualitative requirement for all digital products and services, akin to quality or usability. Our graduates will be able to understand the latest security technologies and research, continuously update their knowledge, and apply it to the development of new cloud and mobile computing solutions.
At the same time, one of the major trends in new ICT products and services – as well as was in other businesses that strive for digitalization – is that services are distributed between cloud computing platforms and heterogeneous computing devices. Their design and implementation requires engineers to master various computing platforms from data centers to mobile devices, communication technologies, connected appliances in the Internet of Things and Industrial Internet, and the security and reliability aspects of distributed systems.
