Overview
Instructional Coach provides practical, hands-on learning experiences in teaching and leading in a distinctively Christian manner.
Additionally, an Instructional Coach Certificate is available for those who already have an earned master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. The certificate requires five or more courses beyond a typical master’s degree in curriculum and instruction.
Graduates with Instructional Coach from Dordt College will:
- shape the instructional culture of a school
- gain experience in implementing school-wide initiatives in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and faculty development.

General requirements
- A bachelor’s degree (GPA of 3.0 or higher) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of at least 24 hours of undergraduate coursework that includes: education psychology, applied education psychology, learner differences, learning environments, curriculum and methods (2 courses), philosophy of education, and statistics.
- Completion of a minimum of one year of successful teaching experience at the K-12 level, or a minimum of 500 hours of verified experiences in teaching or direct coaching beyond the bachelor’s degree.
- Applicants for whom English is a second language must have an adequate command of English as demonstrated by their performance on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
