The Heritage programme from University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, introduces students to the concept of heritage and its critical study, exploring the role of heritage in contemporary societies with a view to examine what constitutes heritage as well as ways in which the study its study can lead to and inform social action.
Dissertation students are required to work with a supervisor to produce either a dissertation of 40,000 words, or a dissertation of 20,000 words in combination with a practical project.Coursework students are required to complete three coursework units, and write a research report of 20,000 words.
