From unauthorized access to malicious manipulation: the threats that exist when storing or sending electronic data are on the increase. The Information Security Technology program is delivered by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).


The Master in Information Security Technology is offered by a collaborative venture between Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e)  and our counterpart at Radboud University.

The program has been structured in such a way that you spend one day per week on average taking courses at the other university. The Master's program in Information Security Technology is a special Master's degree program that falls within the Master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering.

Content of the Master's degree program in Information Security Technology

The program provides you with a broad overview of the techniques of Information Security Technology, which also covers aspects of business operations, law and ethics. Information Security Technology allows you to familiarize yourself with subjects such as:

  • cryptographic codes
  • operating systems
  • protocol verification
Research profile

The design of innovative software and the skill of (mathematical) modeling form the basis of technological and industrial progress. Our computer scientists focus in particular on modeling and analyzing business processes. They enjoy an outstanding reputation, particularly in relation to process mining: a means of discovering process models and linking them to reality.

Our alumni work as internal and/or external consultants, among other roles, in which the security of a company or organization is of central importance. You could be employed in organizations such as:

  • research laboratories
  • scientific institutions
  • Research & Development departments in companies
  • the financial sector

This special Master track is formally a track of the Master program Computer Science and Engineering. The Master program Computer Science and Engineering is accredited by NVAO (Nederlands-Vlaamse Accreditatieorganisatie), the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders.

Programme Structure

The special Master's program in Information Security Technology is 2 years in duration and is equivalent to 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System).

These credits are divided between courses at Eindhoven university of technology and Radboud university Nijmegen.

            The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.             C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

            Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

          Academic Requirements

          The admission requirements for one of our Master's degree programs depend on your previous education. Some levels of previous education provide direct admission to a Master's program, but it is also possible that you need to apply for admission. In some cases you need to follow a pre-Master's program first. There are 3 types of previous education

          • Bachelor's degree from a university in the Netherlands
          • Bachelor's degree from a university in another country
          • Certificate of Higher Vocational Education
          Direct progression 
          A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Engineering completed at TU/e gives you direct access to the TU/e Master's program in Information Security Technology.
