About

Students in the Executive MPH program will achieve the following core MPH competencies:

  • Use analytic reasoning and quantitative methods to address questions in public health and population-based research.
  • Describe environmental conditions, including biological, physical and chemical factors, which affect the health of individuals, communities and populations.
  • Describe the use of epidemiology methods to study the etiology and control of disease and injury in populations.
  • Discuss how health policy and finance affects the delivery, quality, access and costs of health care for individuals, communities and populations.
  • Describe behavioral, social and cultural factors that contribute to the health and well being of individuals, communities and populations.
  • Critique global forces that influence the health of culturally diverse populations around the world, proposing contextually-informed evidence-based approaches to improve health outcomes.
  • Apply skills and knowledge in public health setting(s) through planned and supervised experience(s) related to professional career objectives.
  • Integrate the broad base of public health knowledge and skills acquired from coursework, practicum and other learning activities into a culminating experience (thesis, special studies project, capstone).
  • Develop the capacity for lifelong learning in public health.
  • Apply principles of ethical conduct to public health practice.

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of 3 or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

    The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. The GRE® General Test contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.

Admission is Based on:
  • 3 years minimum full-time, paid work experience in a relevant field
  • Completion of 4-year degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution of higher education or its foreign equivalent.
  • Abilities assessed by standardized test scores (Applied Epidemiology Track Only)
  • Professional goals relevant to track choice
  • Commitment to working in public health

At least 3 year(s) of work experience are required.

Students may enter the Executive MPH program from a variety of professional backgrounds in the public and private sector and must have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
