The Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment (EBE) has the highest number of endowed professorships or chairs at the University of the Witwatersrand
We maintain strong links with industry through student bursaries, scholarships and internships, and offer a range of programmes which include information engineering and biomedical engineering (within Electrical Engineering), and environmental engineering (within Civil Engineering).
Degrees in the Built Environment address the social, spatial and infrastructural needs of a transforming South Africa.
The Master of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering is offered at the the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
Programme Structure
- Our courses are taught by Wits lecturers and industry experts and are NQF level 9 approved. Postgraduate courses can be taken as stand-alone short courses, either on an attendance only basis or to obtain a Wits Certificate of Competence. The School supports access to all courses through a combination of recognition of prior learning and suitable postgraduate diplomas in engineering for all non-engineering qualified persons.
