About

University of Tennessee Knoxville’s Instructional Technology master’s degree program prepares leaders in the field of instructional design and technology.

Overview

About this Degree

Coursework enables students to design, develop, implement, and evaluate online learning environments. These skills are desirable in a variety of contexts such as education, corporate, government, and nonprofit organizations.

To be successful in this fully online program, students need access to a computer with a high-speed Internet connection, webcam, USB headset with microphone, backup storage device, and software, as required by the course instructors.

Our Instructional Technology program at the University of Tennessee Knoxville consists of thirty-three credit hours of coursework with a professional portfolio requirement as the capstone experience for the program. Assuming that students take their coursework at a two-courses-per-semester pace, it can be completed in two years. In addition to coursework and the portfolio, every August there is a one-day required face-to-face orientation at the Knoxville campus prior to the start of the semester. This program will require students to engage in both synchronous and asynchronous online learning.
