The two-year Communication programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is research-oriented. It aims at training communication specialists who plan to pursue further studies, or to become media professionals, executives, researchers, consultants, government officials, etc.


The department

Our School emphasizes student’s development in both the academic and professional aspects so as to make our students well equipped for future challenges in this information society.

Preference will be given to applicants with a solid background in social science and well-developed research interests in journalism/communication. All applicants must have a minimum TOEFL score of 580 (or computer-based score of 237, or internet-based score of 92) or a minimum IELTS score of 7.

  • a research proposal;
  • three letters of reference from academic sources; and
  • good undergraduate academic records
