Overview

The master’s programme in civil and constructional engineering provides a solid foundation for analysing issues and challenges in executing large projects in construction engineering. Essential topics in the programme are steel constructions, composite materials and UHPC, life-cycle assessment, fatigue, foundation engineering, the finite element method, risk management and quality management. 

The Master’s degree in Civil and Constructional Engineering offered at University of Agder provides a foundation for carrying out life-cycle assessments so that you can evaluate the environmental and economic consequences of constructions meant to last for longer time periods.

General requirements

The academic basis is a completed and passed three-year Bachelor’s programme in Engineering, based on the National Curriculum, within the fields of civil engineering and construction, mechanical engineering or marine construction. Furthermore, the following requirements, which partly go beyond the requirements of the National Curriculum, have to be met:

  • At least 25 credits in relevant mathematics
  • At least 5 credits in statistics
  • At least 7,5 credits in physics

The requirement that there be a relevant basis in mathematics is satisfied through mathematics equivalent to obligatory mathematics and the elective course Mathematics 3 within UiA’s engineering programmes.

A weighted, average grade of C or better is required, see Regulations concerning admission to programmes and courses at the University of Agder, § 24. The grade requirement is calculated from all the grades included in the bachelor’s degree.
