Overview
The Special Education with a Specialization in Autism, Grade 7-12 program at St. Thomas Aquinas College is a total of 36 credits. Most candidates complete the program in two years but candidates can work at a quicker or slower pace as needed.

- Upon completion of the program, candidates will be recommended for NY state teaching certification in Students with Disabilities at the appropriate grade levels.
- Candidates specializing in Autism will also be recommended for the Annotation in Severe and Multiple Disabilities.

- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution verifying the completion of a liberal arts major or 30 credit concentration in an academic area of the New York State learning standards and that meets the standards of a particular specialized professional association (e.g. NCSS, NCTE, NCTM, NSTA).
- Official copies of transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended.
- A copy of teaching certificate
- An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Submission of three references
- An interview with the Director of Graduate Education.
