Key Features
A strong and vibrant community in research and education, the Department runs the Institute for Cross-Cultural Studies (ICCS) and the Biological Anthropology Lab, and publishes two academic journals, Bigyo munhwa yeongu and Korean Anthropology Review.
Students organize and participate in undergraduate Anthropology clubs at Seoul National University and conferences, graduate workshops, and other department activities year-around. In 2016, the department became a recipient of an institutional grant from the Korea Research Foundation, BK 21 Plus.
The Anthropology program from Seoul National University allows generous funding for four and a half years for graduate training in master’s and doctoral degree programs, focusing on cross-cultural research in Northeast and Southeast Asia. SNU Department of Anthropology is well poised to become an intellectual hub in Asian and global anthropology in the twenty-first century, the era of Asia.
