The MSc (Mechanics) combines intensive scientific training with high-level technological culture of the great industrial challenges in the field of Mechanics. This two-pronged approach leads into careers in engineering, research, or higher education.  The Master Degree in Mechanics - International track is offered by Paris-Saclay University.

The first M1 year takes a generalist approach, with more specialised electives in the M2 year. M1 teaching introduces the core skills required for high-level scientific and technical project management in the field of mechanics, and includes in the first semester the theoretical and fundamental knowledge required in all professional tracks. The second semester of the M1 year is based on elective blocks, which in turn feed into the M2 specialisations. There is a high degree of flexibility in the programme, and it is often possible, after the M1 year, to follow specialisations in other fields than mechanics.

The Master Degree in Mechanics - International track is offered by Paris-Saclay University.

Educational objectives

The purpose of the Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is to provide a high-level scientific culture and a technology culture geared to current industrial mechanical challenges. This dual culture allows students, depending on their personal project, to move toward engineering, research or higher education.

Semesters S1 and S2 are voluntarily generalist, allowing great freedom of choice in S3-S4. The lessons are organized as coherent teaching units that enable students to acquire skills to organize and direct work resulting from high-level scientific and technical activities in the mechanical field.

The first semester includes a common background on the theoretical disciplines and fundamental knowledge required for all courses, in the field of mechanics, with openings to materials, energy and civil engineering.

Socio-economic partnerships

The training is part of the Ecole Centrale Paris, which introduces its students to the industrial world through industrial conferences, project proposals and internships and the participation of engineers in teaching. In addition, almost all of the MSSMat's theses are supported by industry directly or through joint research programs (NRAs, European projects). Successful partnerships exist with many companies in particular in the fields of energy (EDF, CEA) and transport (Michelin, Ifremer, Aubert & Duval, Snecma, ONERA, CNES, SNCF).
