Overview

Stevenson University Online’s Master of Arts in Teaching program is designed for math and science baccalaureate degree graduates who possess a desire to teach and a passion for inspiring a new generation of learners. Graduates of the MAT online program will meet all Maryland initial certification requirements for teaching middle or high school levels (7-12) in one of six math or science content areas. Upon graduation, professionals will be well-versed in the integrative and collaborative inquiry-based practices of STEM teaching and learning.

Stevenson University Online offers the Master of Arts in Teaching online courses as cohort program in which students start in either the fall or spring semesters. They follow the same sequential course track to graduate as a group, working together as they learn. Courses are offered in 8-week sessions and concentrate on areas including STEM curriculum principles, special education, literary strategies, and the psychology and development of adolescents.

PTE Academic admission requirements PTE Academic PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. The score refers to a total score which ranges between 10 and 90.

  • Completion of bachelor’s degree in a science or math discipline from a regionally accredited institution
  • Official college transcript from your degree-granting institution
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in past academic work
  • Analysis of transcripts to determine if all required content coursework has been met to satisfy field of licensure (Biology, Chemistry, Earth/Space Science, Physical Science, Physics, or Mathematics) requirements.
  • Qualifying score on PRAXIS CORE, PRAXIS I, GRE, SAT, or ACT according to MSDE certification criteria.
