The Islamic Studies programme from Istanbul Sehir University awaits its students with an academic staff featuring prominent names in the fields of contemporary Islamic world and classical Islamic sciences in particular who have embraced an interdisciplinary approach in their research for Islamic studies, evaluates the traditional knowledge in accordance with modern needs by taking into consideration the new developments and processes and promises to provide their students with an efficient and guiding consultancy.
The most significant output of the program is that it makes possible for the students to realize their goal to produce a top quality thesis in their research area. Students completing this program also reach a level where they will be able to correctly read and understand the basic resources of the Islamic sciences, as well as the main examples of the literature belonging to their choice of discipline.
What’s more, they also gain the skills such as successfully applying the basic research and academic writing techniques. After graduating from this program students will have the basic and even more than that, necessary foundation to receive acceptance from doctoral programs where they will further improve their expertise and generate qualified knowledge.

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
