Overview

The Reading program offered by University of Lynchburg includes diagnosis, assessment, and remediation of reading problems, explicit reading and literature instruction, writing technology and research methodology.

Program Emphases

Reading Instruction: This emphasis is designed for educators who are interested in strengthening their understanding of the field of reading in order to become experts on reading in their classrooms.
Reading Specialist: This emphasis is designed for educators who may want to move out of the classroom into specialized teaching of reading, to work as a literacy coach, or to move into central office director positions. This emphasis leads to a Virginia licensure endorsement as a reading specialist, with passage of the Reading for Virginia Educators Assessment.
