Overview
The Reading program offered by University of Lynchburg includes diagnosis, assessment, and remediation of reading problems, explicit reading and literature instruction, writing technology and research methodology.
Program Emphases
- Reading Instruction: This emphasis is designed for educators who are interested in strengthening their understanding of the field of reading in order to become experts on reading in their classrooms.
- Reading Specialist: This emphasis is designed for educators who may want to move out of the classroom into specialized teaching of reading, to work as a literacy coach, or to move into central office director positions. This emphasis leads to a Virginia licensure endorsement as a reading specialist, with passage of the Reading for Virginia Educators Assessment.
