The MEd in Reading at University of Lynchburg offers two tracks for educators who are interested in professional development: Reading Instruction and Reading Specialist. The Reading Specialist track leads to a Virginia licensure endorsement as a Reading Specialist, with passage of the Reading for Virginia Educators Assessment.


The Reading program offered by University of Lynchburg includes diagnosis, assessment, and remediation of reading problems, explicit reading and literature instruction, writing technology and research methodology.

  • Personal essay (300-500 words) outlining: 1) your motivation for pursuing a graduate degree, and 2) your career goals and how the graduate program will help meet those goals.

  • Official transcripts documenting receipt of a bachelor’s degree and any other transcripts reflecting relevant college work.
