About

The Bushfire Protection programme offered by Western Sydney University aims of the course coincide with that of the Federal Bushfire Cooperative Research Centre, which are 'to develop a comprehensive and overarching understanding of the behaviour and danger of bushfires, given local differences in vegetation, land management and weather'.

You will acquire knowledge and understanding of the relevant building regulations for design and development practice. Graduates will be able to provide advice on developments in bushfire prone areas, and assess building designs against the deemed-to-satisfy provisions of the building code and standards. They will also be able to provide advice with respect to bushfire fighting techniques.

Career

As a graduate of these courses you can pursue a career in the private sector of the housing industry or in government. You may be exposed to more employment opportunities while enrolled in the course.

Academic Requirements

Applicants must have an undergraduate degree or higher, in bushfire protection, engineering, land surveying, building, building surveying, construction, planning, urban studies, architecture, landscape architecture, physical sciences, environmental studies, natural resource management, emergency management, land-use planning, local government or public sector management.

Applications from Australian and New Zealand citizens and holders of permanent resident visas must be made via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).
