Computer aided design and manufacturing, mechanical systems, offshore and civil engineering structures, and renewable energy technology have been benefited from the research and development on Solid and Fluid Mechanics, Materials Science, Structural Integrity, Steel Structures, Finite Elements etc.
The advances on above engineering fields have improved the performance, cost-effectiveness and safety of Engineering Structures. Advanced alloys, concrete, composites, and polymers with the aid of computational mechanics, applied mathematics, microscopy, and experimental investigation provide today significant tools for engineering design and product development.
MSc in Engineering Structures and Materials at University of Stavanger offered at the University of Stavanger will provide students with an expertise and advanced knowledge, skills and general competence in Mechanical and Structural Engineering and Materials Science through the following specializations:
- Structural Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
The above specializations have a sound international profile with students from all over the world. Graduated students have a comprehensive background in engineering science and technology and will be able to apply this knowledge within the area of their specialization. After the completion of the course package they can: (a) provide consulting, (b) work in industries or projects, (c) be managers or researchers, (d) design technological products, and (e) perform field measurements.
The programme qualifies the graduates for a broad range of positions in private industry and public organizations. Since the core of the master programme consists of commonly usable principles and methods, graduate students can qualify for many attractive job positions in offshore and civil engineering industries, renewable energy projects, production and manufacturing industries and a diverse range of mechanical operations.
