Study can take place on a one year full-time or two year part-time basis. The Sport and Health Sciences course offered by Plymouth Marjon University promotes collaborative engagement between students and research active academic staff. This thought-provoking, intellectually stimulating MRes Sport and Health Sciences course delivers work-centred projects to students who want to propel their sport and health sciences career forwards. Students are encouraged to develop a critical appreciation of the changing demands in their field and, in doing so, they become equipped with the skills to deal with any challenges that these changes may present.

This course is a project based and work centred programme which enables students to develop a critical appreciation of the contemporary issues and developments within the field of sport and health sciences. Focusing on aspects, specific to their professional field, it affords the opportunity to critically reflect and engage in debate about the issues and developments and to contribute to the planning in order to meet the challenges of appropriate implementation.

It provides a particularly responsive alternative approach to professional development that is rooted in the concept of action research and encourages students to explore issues as they emerge within their profession.
