About

The mission of 3D4M - Ceramics, Glass and Sculpture program from University of Washington is to explore interdisciplinary exchanges that revolve around material study, concept, and critical dialog in a dynamic studio-based environment that reflects and supports the nature of contemporary art in the context of a leading research university.

Overview

Key facts

3D4M - Ceramics, Glass and Sculpture program from University of Washington is a consortium that includes ceramics, glass, and sculpture. Four full-time faculty and three instructional technicians work directly with up to eight graduate students. Studios are located at the Ceramics and Metal Arts Facility where there are extensive facilities for ceramics, wood and metal fabrication, foundry, glass, digital imaging center, and two student exhibition galleries.

The MFA is a two-year course of study emphasizing an experimental approach to materials and ideas and is centered on individual directions within the broad spectrum of contemporary art making. The program places primary concern on personal development and the sharing of ideas, allowing for a flexible and challenging view open to new concepts.
