Overview

Our Electrical Power Engineering master program at University of South-Eastern Norway is anchored in hydro power, which is the most effective form of renewable energy. Hydro power is also easy to regulate, which means that the social value of hydro power is higher than that of many other power sources.

Considerable challenges have arisen in the further development of the power grid in Norway and elsewhere through the introduction of unregulated energy production, such as small-scale production of hydro, wind and solar power.

Where can I work?

  • With a master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering, you can work in power production, power transmission and distribution, larger industrial enterprises, supply industry for electric equipment and in consulting engineering.

This programme requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Power Engineering (related programmes may also be accepted). In addition you must have passed the following:

  • Mathematics at the level of Mathematics III (at USN), or the equivalent
  • A bachelor course in Electrical Circuits or equivalent at minimum 10 ECTS credits
  • A bachelor course in Control Engineering or equivalent at minimum 5 ECTS credits
  • A bachelor course in Electrical Machines/Power Systems or equivalent at minimum 10 ECTS credits
