The objective of Special Education programme offered at Masaryk University is to prepare special educational needs teachers, carry out research and provide further education. Diagnostics, intervention, education, training and counselling are provided by special educational needs teachers, not only within the field of education but also in other areas (the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior). The current concept of special education deals with the problems of individuals with special needs from their birth up to old age, i.e. the periods of early and pre-school age, school age, adolescence, adulthood and old age.
