The Master of Education with a specialization in Educational Leadership degree at Park University is designed to prepare advanced candidates for initial building certification in a 30-hour program. 

Overview

This Educational Leadership program offered by Park University is an online cohort program. There are no weekly class meetings required; instead, you will log in to the online courseroom to complete assignments, participate in discussion topics, and other online activities designed by your professor. You will finish one 3 credit course every 8 weeks. Following this schedule, you will complete the program in approximately 2 years with built in breaks.

Full-time enrollment-one course per eight-week term-during the academic year and one course for two summers allows completion in two calendar years. Students who are employed full-time are encouraged not to take a heavier load. 

Career Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will have earned a M. Ed. Educational Leadership/Principalship degree and be eligible for certification as a principal in the state of Missouri.

General requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in education from an accredited institution and a valid state teaching certificate (applicant must provide copy of certificate).
  • A letter of recommendation from a school administrator who has supervised his/her work.
  • Students with a cumulative GPA between 2.75 and 3.0 may be considered for admission, if they provide one of the following:
    • Four (4) years successful employment experience (validated by a letter of recommendation from supervisor based on good evaluations).
    • An acceptable GRE score for verbal and quantitative tests.
  • Child abuse and neglect screening. 
  • Felony background check and FBI fingerprint check. 
  • Be officially admitted to the School of Education.

Work experience

  • Students seeking Educational Leadership with Certification must have two years of teaching experience by the time they apply for certification.
