Train to become a therapist specializing in those with dyslexia and related disorders in this two-year graduate-level dyslexia therapy training program. Based on the Orton-Gillingham approach, which combines auditory, visual and kinesthetic learning modalities, the outcome of this course is designed to be a Master of Education degree in Dyslexia Therapy and a rewarding career as a therapist.

About

Instruction in relevant theory and research, history, appropriate methodologies, curricular knowledge and applied techniques will prepare students to become dyslexia therapists and help those struggling with written-language disorders in both private and public settings.

This program prepares graduates to hold an AA teaching license with a 203 K-12 Dyslexia Therapy endorsement.

Accreditation

This program is accredited at both the Therapy and Instructor of Therapy levels by the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) and is an International Dyslexia Association (IDA) accredited program.

General Requirements

The general requirements common to all degrees are:

  • a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university,
  • a 2.5 undergraduate grade point average (exceptions: MSCP, EDS, Ed.D.),
  • an appropriate undergraduate foundation in major courses for the degree pursued, and
  • an appropriate standardized test score(s) at or above the published minimum(s).
In order to be admitted to the program, students should hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university and an A teacher's license (which the AA license will supplement) or have evidence of experience in teaching or working with children or adolescents.
