The complex semester project, often in collaboration with a partner institution, addresses one of the three main themes of the Public Art and New Artistic Strategies programme offered by Bauhaus University Weimar:

Internationality
In order to guarantee international study exchanges, close cooperation is planned with foreign partner-universities. For the students, the distinctive feature of the mfa Program lies not only in the chance for further education, but also in the experience of different systems of study. Most importantly, the course of studies offers the possibility to learn about different cultures and perceptions of public space.

General requirements
To be eligible for admission to this degree programme, candidates must have attained a first-level professional qualification from a university/college of art in a degree programme of no less than eight semesters, or an equivalent degree as confirmed by the examination committee. The selection of the students of the degree programme is based on an aptitude assessment examination consisting of:
- Documentation of artistic work
- Completed homework assignment
- if necessary, a personal interview

There are no tuition fees but a semester contribution of approx. 160 EUR per semester.
