About

A balance of theory and practice is applied to the solving of real engineering design problems. All projects meet the product design requirements of one of our many co-operating companies.

Core study areas include structural analysis, engineering management and business studies, computer aided engineering, product design and human factors, engineering design methods, sustainable product design, the innovation process and project management, sustainable development: the engineering context and a project.

The Engineering Design MSc at Loughborough University is designed to meet the challenges of the rapidly changing global market; the availability of well-designed products, processes and systems is the foundation of successful commercial enterprises. You will develop the technical and transferable skills highly sought after by industry or academic research.

Careers

The Wolfson School maintains wide links with industry and students will have opportunities to visit various industries during their studies. Parts of certain modules are delivered by industrial experts. Our graduates are highly employable and work all over the world in various industries.

Graduate destinations

Graduates have gone on to engineering design related jobs in product, process and system design environments, providing project management and communication skills and direct technical input.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Upper Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • An honours degree (normally at 2:1 or above) or equivalent overseas qualification in an appropriate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subject area.
  • Applicants with qualifications slightly below this level, alternative qualifications and/or professional experience will also be considered.
