The "Media Communications" 2nd-cycle study programme is an interdisciplinary study programme and contains courses that are classified into four groups: computer-technical subjects, subjects in social science and humanities, production subjects, and design subjects. Subject-specific competences gained with the programme are:
the ability to identify relevant research issues and the application of research methods to solve them;
the ability of understanding of social phenomena and advising on a wide range of trends of global media events and placing popular media culture in the broader social context;
the knowledge of the foundations of modern visual culture, with the basic concepts and theories of visual interpretation and basic analyses, as well as the development of contents, visual communications and design principles for various forms of media;
the sensibility for individual creative processes and creative work with a group in managing of multimedia projects from idea to realization;
the ability to manage processes in audio-video production and the qualification for independent analyses of audio-visual content and the competence of active participation in the creation of audio-visual project;
the knowledge of modern technologies in electronic media production and media projects distribution;
the knowledge of advanced techniques in geometric modelling, computer graphics and creative graphic design;
the knowledge of advanced techniques for computer animation and post-production process that increases the realism of the finished product (special effects);
the knowledge of information communication technologies in a term of convergence effects from the viewpoint of technology, content and organization;
the knowledge of marketing as a multidisciplinary field of science and the ability to identify and analyze the basic principles in the field of brands and reputation, and
the ability to use a psychological knowledge and various forms of communication in marketing.
Studies finish with a successful defence of a master's thesis. Students acquire the professional title of "magister inženir medijskih komunikacij or magistrica inženirka medijskih komunikacij" (abbr.: mag. inž. med. kom.).

The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
Full-time students from Slovenia and other EU countries, and full-time students from non-EU countries who are granted international protection, applicants for international protection and persons from countries with which Slovenia has concluded bilateral agreement (i.e. Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, B&H, and Serbia) pay NO TUITION FEE (except the part for studying in English, if applicable) if they have not already obtained an education corresponding to master's degree.
