Overview
Designed for non-registered healthcare practitioners, this two-year Nursing (Adult) programme from Swansea University will give you the skills and experience to launch a rewarding career in this essential profession.
You will learn about the holistic needs of people from early adulthood until old age and develop the professional skills to provide high quality nursing care in in a range of clinical and community settings.
As you progress, you will develop the skills to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate evidence-based care to promote the health and wellbeing of adults with acute and chronic conditions.
Career opportunities
On graduation, you will be eligible to apply for Registered Nurse (Adult) status with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and to register as a nurse for work in EU and EEA.
Job prospects are excellent, with 100 per cent of our nursing graduates employed in a professional or managerial job within six months (Unistats).
You can expect a starting salary of £24,214 rising to £43,772 for a highly-experienced staff nurse. Specialist nurses and practice managers can earn £45,000.

General requirements
- This programme is open to graduates with a 2:2 honours degree or above and a GCSE grade C or above in Mathematics and English/Welsh.
- You will be required to demonstrate 700 hours of clinical relevant practice, working in health related environments, such as care homes, hospitals, community or homecare.
- These clinical hours must have been achieved over the last 2 years and will need to be verified by a registered healthcare professional. You will also be required to demonstrate 450 theory hours and these will be assessed via a verification inventory and portfolio.
