The Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) Department at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University is a uniquely interdisciplinary association of faculty and students with complementary interests and expertise. The CAEE Department is committed to quality teaching, research, and advising.

The Master of Science in Civil Engineering program provides advanced study and research in the following areas: 

  • Environmental/Water Resources
  • Structures/Geotechnical
  • Transportation/Regional Development
  • Construction Management, and Energy Resources/Systems

The department also administers a combined graduate program that awards Masters Degree in Civil Engineering (MSCE). The Masters Degree focuses on three major areas: Civil Infrastructures; Water/Environment; and Architectural Eng. (Building Energy).   • Take 9 credits of additional CIEN 600-799 courses with approval of advisor 
  • Take 6 credits from CIEN 600-799 or other departments with approval of advisor

General requirements

  • Unconditional admission requires undergraduate degree from an ABET accredited Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Environmental Engineering program
  • Online application for admission to the Graduate College.
  • Transcripts: One unofficial copy of transcript(s)/mark sheet(s) from all colleges and universities previously attended must be uploaded on the application portal. An overall GPA of 3.0 in the bachelor's degree, a previously earned graduate degree or a GPA of 3.0 on at least 12 post-baccalaureate graduate credits is necessary (in addition to the other criteria outlined in the Graduate Catalog) for unconditional admission.
  • Recommendations: Three recommendations are expected.
  • Personal statement of interest in the program, as required. 
  • English language proficiency: International applicants are required to provide evidence of English language proficiency.
