The Master of Education (MEd) programme develops in-service teacher educators, teachers, principals and education managers as reflective practitioners and leaders to improve teaching, learning, assessment and overall leadership and managem​ent practices in educational institutions.


The programme is offered in f​ul​l-time (two-year) and part-time (four-year) modes.​​ The MEd specialisations include:

  • Educational Leadership & Management (ELM)

  • Assessment, Measurement and Evaluation (AME)

  • Teacher Education (TE) with sub-specialisations in Science, Mathematics, English Language, Social Studies

  • An undergraduate degree, with at least lower second-class (or equivalent) from a recognized University

  • Minimum two years’ teaching (5 years if from the Kenyan public sector) or equivalent educational experience

  • English skills sufficient to access a graduate level course

  • Ability to demonstrate strong reasoning and reflective skills

  • Ability to demonstrate a clear motivation for graduate level study
