The Department of Nursing offers degrees at the BS, the MS, and at the DNP level. The programs are committed to preparing nurses to deliver culturally sensitive, caring, and competent nursing care to diverse clients in a variety of settings. The Nursing Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner program is offered by William Paterson University of New Jersey.

Overview

Graduates of the baccalaureate, master's and doctor of Nursing Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner degree programs are encouraged to pursue life-long learning to effect and enhance self-development, professional growth, critical thinking and leadership.

The Department of Nursing offers a post-master's certificate in adult gerontology. Students in the post-master's certificate program will complete the necessary theory and practicum course requirements in the track in order to be eligible to sit for the adult gerontology certification examination (American Association of Nurse Practitioners or American Nurses Credentialing Center). The master's degree program is accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

General requirements

Applicants for admission to a master’s degree program must have completed an undergraduate degree program at an accredited institution of higher learning in the United States or abroad. Foreign applicants must hold a degree considered equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree.

  • All transcripts and degree certificates/ diplomas must be written in the original language of instruction.
  • Official transcripts must show all courses and subjects taken and all grades (marks) received.
  • A course-by-course evaluation of all foreign education credentials is required for most countries and should be forwarded to William Paterson University.
  • Diploma Supplements must accompany transcripts from institutions from countries that are part of the Bologna Accord.
  • A vocational track is not appropriate preparation for graduate admission.
  • Additional requirements are determined by individual graduate programs.
