The degree is relevant for everyone working with both national and international emergency response, crisis management and security. The degree is aimed particularly at people working in the police, military and international aid organisations, as well as local and national government.

About

Recent global and local crises have placed greater demand on security forces to have a stronger grasp on organisational culture, effectiveness and strategy. In extreme situations, decisions that are politically and operationally streamlined is key for resolving the issue in the best possible way.

Through five programmes, where security and cultural topics are in focus, this degree will equip you better to make decisions and contribute to decision-making processes in both a national and international context. After completing the course of study, you will be able to lead other people in an independent and reflective manner, and know your possibilities and limitations with regard to knowledge, the surroundings and the alternative courses of action at your disposal.

The Army and BI Norwegian Business School have collaborated to bring you the most relevant and up-to-date resources from various fields of expertise including the intelligence services, special forces, diplomats and leading international research bodies. A total of five programmes are offered in the degree. You must complete these five programs to receive the Master of Management degree with specialisation in security management and cultural understanding. You can also take the programmes individually or combine them with other Executive Master of Management programmes. The degree is structured so that it can be completed over three years, part-time. The programmes are taught in English. Certain programmes include sessions organised as a study trip abroad. The programmes are scheduled annually.

  • The applicant must be at least 25 years of age

Work Experience

  • At least four years of work experience. For applicants who have already completed a master’s degree, three years of work experience are required
