About

Early childhood is about more than classroom instruction. Pursue this Early Childhood Education, Advanced Studies program at Salem State University to learn about elements across society that impact early childhood.

Overview

Salem State University School of Education offers multiple paths to becoming a licensed teacher in Massachusetts. Successfully completing an initial licensure program as part of the undergraduate 4+1 program, in a graduate licensure only program, or as an M.Ed. or MAT will result in receiving an endorsement for initial licensure.

However, many of the Early Childhood Education, Advanced Studies program options enable participants to apply for a preliminary license directly with the state partway through the program and the master's degree programs allow completers to apply for professional licensure from the state after three years of teaching experience without any additional graduate work.

Our Mission

Salem State University's mission is to provide a high quality, student-centered education that prepares a diverse community of learners to contribute responsibly and creatively to a global society, and serve as a resource to advance the region's cultural, social and economic development.
