About

The Master of Accountancy Accountancy student from Louisiana State University Louisiana State University will develop superior technical accounting knowledge, strong analytical skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and highly developed interpersonal skills. The program prepares students for careers as professional accountants in public practice, industry, financial institutions, government, and nonprofit organizations. 

The MAcc requires 30 hours of non-thesis coursework. The program is primarily designed for those with undergraduate preparation in accounting; however, exceptional candidates from other disciplines may be considered. Upon completion of the program, a student should have completed Louisiana’s 150-hour educational requirement for the CPA examination.

                  Academic Requirements

                  You need the following GPA score:

                  Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3.2 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

                  Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

                  • You need the following GMAT score:

                    Required score: 500

                    The GMAT - or Graduate Management Admission Test - is a frequent requirement for admission at management and business schools across the world. The GMAT score ranges between 200 and 800 and measures the verbal and quantitative reasoning of test-takers. Read more about the GMAT.

                  Enrollment in the MAcc program is competitive, with a faculty review process determining admission. The minimum admission requirements are:
                  • Admission to the Louisiana State University Graduate School.
                  • An acceptable score on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). The average GMAT score for candidates accepted to LSU's MSA program over the last year is approximately 570. 
                  • An acceptable GPA. The average GPA in accounting for candidates accepted into LSU's MAcc program over the last year is approximately 3.4, and the overall GPA average is 3.5. The minimum acceptable overall GPA is 3.2.
                  • The completion of an undergraduate degree in accounting, or the equivalent, at a four-year accredited institution.
