At the heart of our Early Childhood Education (PreK-2) program at Lesley University is a respect for the competence and curiosity of young children in grades PreK-2. The program will prepare you to meet the unique needs of all children, and inspire in them a lifelong love of learning.

The early years are critical for children’s learning. In this program, you'll explore how children develop socially, emotionally, intellectually, and morally. Discover how family and community enhance learning. Gain strategies for supporting English language learners and children with special needs.

Learning outcomes

At Lesley, our early childhood programs respect the competence and curiosity of young children and their unique needs.

Learn how to teach literature, arts, math, science, and social studies. Develop Early Childhood Education (PreK-2) at Lesley University practical curriculum ideas and new teaching strategies, put them into practice through student teaching experience, and receive feedback from your supervising teachers and faculty. Discover what it takes to create a fair, caring classroom community, in theory and in practice.

You'll graduate with the experience needed for a rewarding career in PreK–2 classrooms. That's because employers in Massachusetts prefer to hire Lesley graduates, saying that they are best prepared to enter the classroom on day one.
