The Transnational America: Politics, Culture and Society at Radboud University is a rich and very multifaceted program, whose purpose is to stimulate, challenge and entice students to significantly broaden their understanding of America’s place in the world and different possibilities for thinking about and exploring the topic.

Career prospects

With the specialization in Transnational America you’ll:

  • Have detailed knowledge of US foreign policy, especially following World War II, and a thorough understanding of its political and cultural consequences.
  • Have a thorough understanding of major political and social problems within American society and be able to analyze these in their historical and socio-cultural contexts.
  • Be able to analyze the United States as a cultural and political entity from a comparative and transnational perspective.
  • Have the skills to formulate research questions, to independently engage in research activities and to report on their research findings in academic fashion.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.     C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

    Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.
