International Human Rights Law

Overview

The Master of Laws in International Human Rights Law from Lund University was one of the first LL.M programmes in the world established specifically to provide for the academic mastery of an increasingly complex area: the international law of human rights. 

Both the Faculty of Law at Lund University and the RWI are well respected educational actors and our graduates benefit from the fact that the Master´s programme at Lund is held in high esteem worldwide. 

The programme staff has been selected to ensure the highest scholarly standards in research and training. We also regularly host distinguished guest professors and visiting speakers from practice and academia alike, including judges at international courts or tribunals, senior police and military officers, diplomats and scholars, among others. 

We provide our students with a multitude of perspectives on human rights yet ensuring a red thread of academic progression throughout the programme as well as aiming to strengthen human rights implementation and protection through knowledge. Past guest speakers have included the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, and the Nobel peace prize laureate Shirin Ebadi.

The programme will open doors to a broad array of international and domestic careers within the legal sector. Our alumni find employment with international organizations, NGOs, private law firms and in national governments.
