After completion of an MSc degree in Optics and atomic physics the candidate should have achieved good knowledge within the specialised research topic of the thesis, and be able to:

- Give an account of the basic ideas of Optics and atomic physics

- Work independently on a research topic relevant to Optics and atomic physics

- Establish contacts within a research community to gather necessary information and tools for conducting research within Optics and atomic physics.

-Present a research topic and results in a written report, as well as in an oral presentation.

If the MSc degree is achieved with a grade of C or better, the candidate is qualified for PhD studies within Optics and atomic physics

The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading).     The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).
