    Accreditation

    All study programmes at VHL are accredited by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). This is the official organisation responsible for evaluating the quality of higher education institutions in the Netherlands.

    Programme Structure

    • In the Management of Development programme, you will explore key global challenges and develop the skills needed to create positive social change.
    • In the first term, you will focus on foundational concepts like development theories and leadership, equipping you to address issues such as climate change and social inequality. 
    • During terms 2 and 3, you will deepen your knowledge through courses on organisational dynamics and research design, preparing you for effective development work. 
    • Finally, in term 4, you will conduct a thesis on a topic of your choice, applying all the skills you've learned.
    • Throughout the programme, you will have opportunities to collaborate with NGOs, governments, and private organisations, learning how to empower marginalised communities.

    General requirements

    • To be admissible, you need to have a Bachelor degree in a related field, comparable to the Dutch Bachelor degree.
    • Once you've sent your complete application through our portal, the admissions department will review it. This process can take several weeks. If you don't meet the requirements, we will let you know and withdraw your application. If you are admissible, you will receive a conditional admission email which means that we've reserved a spot for you at VHL. The email will state what you need to do to complete your file.

    Work experience

    Relevant work experience in middle or higher management positions. If you have less than two years of experience you can still apply,  the student Service Centre will then assess if you qualify.

    Technological requirements

    Computer literacy (Windows, Word, Excel, and Internet use) are highly recommended.
