Overview
The Architecture program at Laurentian University length is two-years, with a continued focus on experiential learning through design-build and community-design projects. Design studio options include ‘Architecture and Craft,’ ‘Indigenous Design’ or ‘Community Building.’ Two terms are devoted to co-operative education, placing students in design related offices locally, nationally and internationally.
The program strives to become recognized nationally for Indigenous Design at the graduate level. Indigenous worldviews and knowledge are present throughout the program, delivered in particular courses and through various community settings. The knowledge and skills gained in the professional program prepares students to enter into the profession of architecture.

The knowledge and skills gained in the professional program prepare students to enter into the architectural profession, as well as a variety of related design fields including urban design, community planning, sustainable design, environmental design, or digital fabrication.

Due to accreditation requirements, all applicants to the MArch Program must have a pre-professional architecture degree (i.e. BAS, BES, BEDS, etc.) The paths leading to the MArch Program, for those applicants with a pre-professional degree, are as follows:
- Three (3) references
- A current curriculum-vitae/resume
- A 1-2 page letter expressing what area(s) of design you wish to focus upon for graduate work including any particular professors you may want to work with
- A Design Portfolio showing your creative and design skills, technical knowledge and relevant professional experience.
