About

Our graduate program has a host of resources to help you — internationally recognized studio faculty members whose works appear in such prestigious museums as the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, distinguished scholars in art history, our specialized art library, and courses that range from Western to non-Western and contemporary to traditional.
We prepare teachers, painters, photographers, critics, archivists, museum curators, cartoonists and more. You will have easy access to both our on-campus studios and workspaces and New York's great museums and countless galleries. And just before you graduate, you'll show your work in our annual M.F.A. Thesis Exhibition that attracts attendees from all over the tri-state area.

    The TOEFL®PBT is administered in a paper format and measures your ability to use and understand English in a classroom setting at the college or university level. Academic Requirements

Submit the following documents to the Office of Graduate Admissions: 
  •  Transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. 
  •  Statement of purpose of approximately 500 words, typed, double-spaced, explaining your experience, artistic vision, career goals, and the technologies of your practice. 
  • Two letters of recommendation from former instructors, employers, or other people familiar with you and your work. 

Submit a creative portfolio of 2-3 completed works containing sound recordings, scores, documentation of works and performances, and artist's notes on each work.

Selected applicants will be interviewed, either during a campus visit (recommended) or via telephone or video conference.

Technological Requirements

Applicants must have experience and facility with electronic/digital music-making.
