About

LHU is transitioning its athletic training program from a bachelor’s degree to a master’s degree. The LHU Class of 2019 will be the last cohort to graduate from the Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training degree. The suggested route to admission to the athletic training master’s degree program is through the Health Science / Exercise Science program.  An accelerated 3+2 program is also available.

  • Facilities: Lock Haven University provides exceptional, state-of-the-art facilities for the athletic training program. There is a dedicated athletic training classroom, an exercise physiology lab, and gross human anatomy (cadaver dissection) lab.
  • Careers: Due to a concentration on cost containment, healthcare professions are expected to grow through 2020. LHU’s programs will ready you to enter this expanding profession through a variety of career options. Our recent graduates have accepted positions in various high schools, physician offices, rehabilitation clinics, colleges, and industrial settings across the US.

English Language Requirements

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • Official college transcript(s) (must have a 3.0 or higher GPA)
  • Three letters of recommendation (at least one from a certified athletic trainer)
  • Statement of Professional Goals (750 words or less)
  • GRE scores- (50th percentile recommended for admission)
  • Applicants should use the university / program code of 1978 so that GRE scores are automatically reported to the program.
  • CPR/Professional Rescuer for the healthcare provider
  • Documentation of 75 observation hours in athletic training
