Overview
MSc in Petroleum Engineering at University of Stavanger is at the forefront of petroleum engineering education. Numerous events, conferences, and company presentations are organised in the city and at the university throughout the year, which allows the students to build a network within the industry.
The programme provides an excellent basis for PhD studies for those who wish to pursue a career in education or research.
Specializations offered within this study programme is Drilling and Well Engineering, Production and Process Engineering, and Reservoir Engineering.
Career
Successful candidates from this programme will be able to design and plan different types of wells and well operations, and to analyze and solve different well problems. In addition, individuals will be able to formulate strategies and have the key fundamental knowledge to develop, manage and implement technology within the oil industry.
The programme, which has been developed in close collaboration with the oil industry, qualifies for a broad range of positions within drilling and production, both operators and service companies. The programme qualifies the candidate for other industry positions where drilling is performed, such as mining, underground water and geothermal applications.
