About

The Banking and Finance programme offered by the University of Stirling is suitable for everyone, whether you already have related qualifications or experience, or want to change the direction of your career. The course helps you progress towards recognised professional qualifications that are accredited by the Chartered Banker Institute, making our course one of the few UK programmes to offer this level of recognition.

You’ll develop an understanding of the concepts and methodologies of banking practice, an appreciation of the value and limitations of research, and a critical awareness of the current and potential problems facing the industry. You’ll also improve your ability to understand and compile economic reports, company accounts and financial forecasts.

          The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.         Academic Requirements

        You need the following GPA score:

        Required score: Lower Second Class

        Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Lower Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

        Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

        General Requirements

        A minimum of a second class Honours degree or equivalent. Applicants without these formal qualifications but with significant appropriate/relevant work/life experience are encouraged to apply.

        The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.

        • There are various categories of funding available to support the cost of your studies at the University of Stirling. You may qualify for University funding as well as funding from government bodies, the European Commission, funding trusts, research councils, industry and employers.
        • If you have the talent, ability and drive to study with us, we want to make sure you make the most of the opportunity – regardless of your financial circumstances.
        • If you’re an international student you may be entitled to the University of Stirling International Postgraduate Taught International Excellence Scholarship – giving a £5,000 reduction in the cost of your annual tuition fees.
