Founded in 1983 and located in one of America’s most culture-rich urban environments, the University of New Orleans Arts Administration Program is ranked among the finest such programs in the United States, preparing students from throughout the world to lead in the increasingly professionalized field of arts management. 


The Arts Administration Program at the University of New Orleans is fully accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (COC-SACS) and is a member of the Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE).

The Program offers a Master of Arts in Arts Administration and a non-credit Certificate for Performing Arts Executives.

The Arts Administration Program at University of New Orleans is part of the new UNO School of the Arts. The Program, "plays an integral role in the fabric of Louisiana culture and is unique in the state and region”, says Tony Micocci, Assistant Director of the Program.


The Program examines many crucial elements of the business that underlies artistic creation and public delivery, including:

  • Public arts policy and advocacy
  • The generation and management of public cultural activity such as exhibits, performances, arts education, and community programs
  • The commercial and non-profit sides of the business of culture, including organizational structures and staff roles
  • The critical stakeholders in the business of culture, their relationships to one another, and their roles in the process, including artists, managers, agents, producers, presenters, boards of directors, donors, and audiences
