The Master of Business Administration - Finance concentration at the University of the Incarnate Word provides students with an understanding of the importance of money management in business and the impact of financial decisions. The concentration’s coursework is designed to encourage students to think critically, analytically, creatively, and globally. Also, the concentration’s coursework covers the most essential and diverse topics of Finance, such as, Corporate Finance, Financial Planning and Investments among others.

Purpose

One of the main goals of this program is to prepare the MBA students with the skills required to be successful in this rising sector in San Antonio.

    PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. Delivered and marked by computer, it reports on a scale between 10 and 90.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Applicants with an earned baccalaureate degree with an overall GPA less than 2.0 will not be admitted.

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

TIER I - ADMISSION TO THE MBA PROGRAMS

  • If admitted to the program, those fulfilling the Tier I requirements will have no additional academic requirements to begin the program.

TIER II - ALTERNATE ADMISSION TO THE MBA PROGRAM

  • Those granted Alternate Admissions will be assigned to Tier II, with specific courses to be taken at the beginning of the program, all of which must be completed with a “B” or better.
  • The first four graduate level courses to be taken will be: Business Research and Analysis, Accounting, Economics, and Finance For students with an International Concentration, these courses are Business Research and Analysis, International Accounting, International Economics, and International Finance
