The Two-Year Sociology and Social Anthropology (2 years) at Central European University (CEU) requires that students take a total of 62 credits, of these 48 credits in coursework. (14 credits for the Thesis Consultation and Defense are not included in the required 62 credits!) In the first year a minimum of 30 credits is to be undertaken. A further 18 credits may be taken in the second year. All coursework must be completed before undertaking research for the thesis in the Winter Semester of the second year.
For those without specialization 20 course credits come from mandatory courses and 20 from elective courses.
For those specializing in Global and Urban Studies 32 course credits come from mandatory courses and 8 from elective courses and at least six of the ten elective credits have to be chosen from the Urban and Global Studies Electives Cluster of courses, offered in both Fall and Winter. Please check the MA one-year electives for other options.
