The primary focus of the Mass Communications at Arkansas State University is on the fundamentals of communication theories enabling students to acquire the ability to understand and use basic methods of communication research.
The flexible curriculum provides opportunities for students interested in pursuing advancement in mass communications or preparing for doctoral studies and positions in higher education.Within Academics there are 11 colleges and 12 units that are responsible for the development and enrichment of the total academic program. There are more than 14,000 students that are engaged in a range of academic pursuits that include degree programs in 160 undergraduate and graduate fields.

- Some students with limited mass communications background may be required to complete some undergraduate and graduate performance courses as part of their programs of study
- A completed online application accompanied by the appropriate application fee ($30 for U.S. applicants/$40 for International applicants), along with the required documents for that specific graduate program
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended since leaving high school. Transcripts must be mailed directly from the institutions previous attended
- All students are required to present written documentation of measles, mumps and rubella immunization
