Overview

The Master in Secondary Education at the University of Luxembourg is specially designed for students who already hold a Bachelor’s degree in German Studies, Romance Studies or Mathematics. To be eligible for  the Luxembourgish Studies track, a Bachelor's degree in philology or cultural studies is expected. The Secondary Education programme is delivered by University of Luxembourg.

Students are enabled to deepen their knowledge in the respective fields and develop the skills needed for teaching in classroom settings.

Acquire solid theoretical, practical and educational knowledge

In addition to courses in the core subject areas, the curriculum includes classes in educational sciences, educational sociology and psychology to provide students with the necessary skills to understand and face the challenges of teaching and learning a multicultural and multilingual school system.

The programme puts a special focus on issues specific to Luxembourg such as multilingualism, multiculturality and integration and equips students with the needed pedagogical tools and methods to address them adequately.

Career opportunities

Students will be prepared for a career in teaching in the secondary school in Luxembourg.

Graduates may also apply for a PhD programme and enrol in a doctoral school of the University of Luxembourg.

Academic Requirements

  • This programme does not recognise GRE® scores.

    The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. The GRE® General Test contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.

  • Holding a Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS) in the chosen discipline. To be eligible for  the Luxembourgish Studies track, a Bachelor's degree in philology or cultural studies is expected.
