Working closely with the M.A. Communication program directors from Duquesne University, students choose courses housed in any of the emphasis areas to develop a unique program of study designed to build particular skill sets and capabilities necessary for an ever-changing marketplace.
Developing competencies in a number of areas (including intercultural and interpersonal communication, organizational communication, argumentation, persuasion, event planning, etc.), this emphasis prepares students for careers in both the for-profit and non-profit industries, law, public policy, or business.
All coursework is delivered in traditional, hybrid, and distance learning formats.
Applicants for the Master of Arts in Communication with a concentration in Corporate Communication, Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC), Rhetoric & Philosophy of Communication, or Communication Studies, or one of the dual degree programs, must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. The undergraduate degree does not have to be in a communication-related field, but applicants are required to demonstrate a basic understanding and awareness of communication. If, in the judgment of the Admission Committee, you do not fulfill this prerequisite you may be asked to complete additional undergraduate work before beginning graduate studies.
